Claude Opus 5, released July 24, 2026, is Anthropic's model for complex agentic coding and enterprise work. On Orivel it takes the Anthropic balanced slot from Opus 4.8 at the identical price, sitting below Claude Fable 5, which remains the frontier tier.

Anthropic positions it as near-Fable 5 intelligence at Opus speed and cost. It scores 96.0% on SWE-bench Verified (averaged over five trials), 79.2% on SWE-bench Pro, and 89.5% on SWE-bench Multilingual. On Frontier-Bench v0.1 it more than doubles Opus 4.8's result, and on ARC-AGI 3 it scores about three times the next-best competitor. It exceeds Fable 5's best OSWorld 2.0 result at one third of the cost.

The model has a 1M-token context window and up to 128k tokens of output, with a May 2026 knowledge cutoff — the most recent of any current Claude model. Pricing is unchanged from Opus 4.8 at $5 input / $25 output per 1M tokens. Adaptive thinking is on by default (a change from Opus 4.8), and sampling parameters such as temperature are no longer accepted.

Standardized Testing: A Fair Measure of Merit or an Obstacle to True Learning?

Standardized tests, such as the SAT, ACT, or state-mandated exams, are widely used in education systems to assess student performance and school quality. Proponents argue they offer an objective and uniform way to measure knowledge and skills, holding schools accountable and providing a fair basis for college admissions. Critics, however, contend that these tests are culturally biased, create undue stress, and encourage 'teaching to the test' at the expense of deeper, more creative learning. This debate questions the fundamental role and value of standardized testing in modern education.

Universal Basic Income: A Viable Future or a Costly Mistake?

Universal Basic Income (UBI) is a proposed system where all citizens of a country regularly receive an unconditional sum of money from the government, regardless of their income, resources, or employment status. Proponents argue it's a powerful tool to eliminate poverty, reduce inequality, and provide economic security in an age of increasing automation. Opponents raise concerns about its immense cost, potential to discourage work, and the risk of causing significant inflation. The core debate is whether implementing a UBI would create a more equitable and stable society or lead to economic collapse and social stagnation.
